Coming Soon: Downgrading to the 3CX Basic Edition

At 3CX, we believe your license should work for you—not the other way around. Following our recent announcement of the new 3CX Basic Edition, we’re taking a closer look at an important enhancement: the ability to downgrade your license edition at renewal time.
Business needs evolve. Features that were essential last year may no longer be necessary today. With this new flexibility, you stay in control of your licensing and ensure you’re always getting the best value for your investment.
Downgrading is already available for PRO and ENT/AI editions, and with Update 8 (U8), customers will also be able to downgrade to the Basic Edition.

You will be able to downgrade from any edition to any currently available lower-tier edition.
No Refunds: How and When It Works
Downgrading is a simple, transparent process that takes place during your annual license renewal.
Timing Is Key
Downgrades are only available through the renewal process. There are no refunds or price adjustments for the remaining subscription period. However, you can plan ahead and initiate the downgrade close to your renewal date to maximize value.
The Renewal Shopping Cart
As your license expiration approaches, you’ll enter the renewal process. Here, you can:

Renew your current edition (e.g., ENT/AI), or
-
Select a lower-tier edition, such as PRO—or the Basic Edition once available.
Seamless Transition
After completing the renewal with the selected lower-tier edition, your system will automatically transition to the new license when the current one expires—no disruption to your service.
Important Note:
Downgrading is available from higher-tier editions (PRO or ENT/AI) to any lower-tier edition, including the Basic Edition once released. We strongly recommend reviewing the Full Feature List before renewal to ensure the selected edition meets your requirements.
